Can this stand alone?

I want to watch this movie with someone who did not watch the series. Was wondering if it could stand alone or would you be lost if you didn't see the show?

they rush through plot points of the series before it begins, but I wouldn't recommend it.

And despite having seen the series, I still binged it before this movie.

thanks..maybe I'll just watch it without them. i would def recommend the series though.
