Isn't including a Hotel Transylvania short just adding insult to injury?

Considering Sony passed on Tartakovsky's Popeye movie to fund and release this cynical garbage instead, it feels a tad insulting to him to attach his Puppy short to the beginning of the movie. Not to mention it's insulting to the audience to throw them a bone (no pun intended) with 5 minutes of animation that's actually entertaining and creative before bombarding them with 85 minutes of ugly pandering bullshit.

I liked those two movies. I also kind of found it a bit insulting how Sony is using that tactic to get audience to watch Emoji too. But not exactly for the same reasons you just mentioned though. Popeye is apparently still in production with a new writer. It's just that Tartakovsky is off the project to direct it. The greenlighting of Emoji Movie was a completely separate event from Popeye.
