Had potential (but a ridiculous ending)

I must say, this movie wasn't that bad. For the most part, I liked it. It was gloomy, depressing, and eerie. The zombies were actually pretty scary. Everything was going good, until...the end. Wow. What a way to spoil a plot that had potential.

After what Olivia did to Ann, there's no reason why Ann should've saved her life, and let the guy she loved, Chris, get killed. There's no excuse. Now, some people might interpret her actions as trying to do the righteous and noble thing, unlike Olivia. An attempt to be the better person. And another way to interpret the ending, is that Ann viewed Olivia as a daughter, seeing that she lost her own, and didn't have it in her to let Olivia die. But still...Olivia betrayed her. She basically tried to kill Ann. So with that said, I don't find the ending to be at all satisfying or logical.

During the last scene, as Ann was driving away with Olivia; I was waiting for her to pull over and kill Olivia. That would've made more sense, and it would've made a better ending...in my opinion. Almost any ending would've been better than the one that was used.

I definitely think though Ann loved Chris , she should have let them both die.
My reason for saying that is because that man would have not been able to forgive her if she would’ve saved him over Olivia .

I thought Chris had been bitten in the neck which is why she shot him.

I agree with a lot that you wrote. She seemed to spare the girls life and keep her safe despite how emotionally devastated she was for the girl betraying her and getting the guy killed. Its like she allowed her maternal instinct and her loneliness to override her logical reasoning which is "I am not safe with this girl, she already tried to get me killed". Im thinking the movies title is another reason she let the girl live, HERE ALONE and she didnt want to remain that way. Or perhaps she is still Here Alone even with the girl alive, as she is left with no one she trusts or can love after what occurred? But that begs the question again, why keep her alive or around you?

I watched another apocalypse movie where the ending seemed like it would turn into this same ending and I immediately remembered this movie and thought "It better not end with them walking off together after all this mess, theres no logical reason for these two people to bond" and then *WHOOSH!!!!* the protagonist whips out her machete and lops of the girls head in one fluid quick motion!

The movie with that ending is called The Day https://moviechat.org/tt1756799/The-Day and has some recognizable stars with a strange twist. Theres no zombies, but there are cannibals to contend with since food and wild game has become rare.

You oughta check out that film as the ending will leave you satisfied I think xD
