You're Kidding Right? SPOILERS!

Let me get this straight. You have this Baron/Volmer guy methodically killing rich people & the elite left & right for YEARS & you're telling me with a straight face that NOBODY ever came around asking what was going on?

Pfftttt!! Yeah ok, the feds & Interpol would've descended on that place in a heartbeat. You can't tell me that with all those people getting murdered that no one was going to ask questions, that no one was going to take notice, that Volmer was capable of explaining it all way. That makes no sense whatsoever & is the main plot hole of this movie.

Somebody, somewhere would've came for Volmer ages ago. Please spare me.

One other question that bears asking is did the villagers know who Volmer really was? It seemed that they did, because they were afraid of him & he was able to stop them from hurting Lockhart by his command. Why would he intimidate them unless they had an inking of who he really might be? If they knew, whether or not they had a superstitious notion that he was the Baron or it was simply a belief that they held then why didn't they like their forebears had done, do something about it?

Certainly makes them cowards & just as much to blame if they truly knew but stood by & did nothing. Whether it was out of hatred or indifference to the "guests" or not it was pretty crummy to stand idly by.

Kind of reminds of the Larry Nassar case..

The rich administrators, patrons, etc. knew about his heinous crimes for decades.. And though there was an investigation - because Nassar was a "physician".. He actually was able to explain away his crimes to the cops - in a class room setting.

Though this movie is fiction? History repeats itself, constantly. The rich are cruel, especially toward each other. Yet let an "outsider" or an "outside force" try to bring them to justice? The rich will actually protect their own..

And just as in the movies? Most of our law enforcement agencies are weak as water.. (They're too busy trying to cover up their own "heinous crimes"..)

and you definitely made some very valid points.

The rich oppresses the poor, then the poor kill the rich, it goes back and forth. Human nature will never change.
