Each episode can be associated with an iconic documentary?

If...

Sandy Passage (#1.1), loosely based on Grey Gardens (1975);
Kunuk Uncovered (#1.2), loosely based on Nanook of the North (1922);
The Hunt for El Chingon (#1.3) loosely based on the journalism series, Vice (2013)?
The Eye Doesn't Lie (#1.4), loosely based on The Thin Blue Line (1988)?

Are A Town, a Gangster, a Festival (#1.5) and Gentle and Soft: The Story of the Blue Jean Committee Part 1 + 2 loosely based on any particular documentaries or overgeneralizing and parodying art and indie documentaries and musical "where are they now" style documentaries?

The Story of the Blue Jean Committee has references to the History of the Eagles doc.
It even has Irving Asimov playing a part.

Final Transmission(#2.5) is clearly based on the Talking Heads concert film "Stop Making Sense".

I don't know that you can say every episode is based on an "iconic" documenatary, though many are. I remember hearing Bill Hader talk about episode (#2.4) Globesman, and it was inspired by some corporate training film/documentary about traveling encylopedia salesman.
