Wow, with SPOILERS

As I watched the final episode that will run on STARZ, I was as thinking a few things. One: I don’t think I’ve seen even one instance of bad acting on Counterpart; no, strike that—I haven’t seen one instance of acting that hasn’t been AT LEAST very good, and most instances have been ‘way beyond very good. Two: I don’t think I’ve seen one bad scene in 20 hours of programming, not one. This thought speaks to the writing and production, as well as the acting. Three: if this must needs be the finale, at least it’s more of an open-to-speculation conclusion than it is a cliffhanger, more testament to the writing. There can clearly be more story. The Crossing can’t stay closed. Our Howard and Their Emily have to be united. We can’t lose Baldwin! What will she do with her life, now? What was will Peter and Clare re-name their daughter? Four: STARZ could not be bothered to promote this stellar, quality-from-head-to-toe masterpiece, but pushes dubious projects like American Gods harder than a pimp who needs money for a crack fix? What’s wrong with this picture?

I shouted “No!” when Our Emily was caught in that explosion. I cried at how perfectly Simmons’ posture told us he just learned she is dead. I applauded when Their Emily offed that bitch (and I’m using this instead of the word that comes to mind first) Mira. I laughed when Their Howard saved the world in about one minute flat by murdering all of Their flu carriers. He’s a jerk, but he’s a jerk who gets things done.

My final thought is actually a hope: I hope there is an outlet that is smart enough to pick this up, give it the attention that it not only deserves but has also earned. If not, then Counterpart becomes another cult classic, like The Prisoner, American Gothic or Banshee. There are worse fates.

I’ve enjoyed sharing this with you all.

This is a great show and I hope someone picks it up to continue it.

I agree with you on the solid, good acting and writing. I was bummed when Emily was killed. And yes, I agree with you all that Howard from the other side is a bad ass.

Emily got blown up because of her charitable heart. She talked when she should have shot. "Their" Howard followed the advice of Tuco in "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly": "If you have to shoot, shoot, don't talk."

I would watch a spinoff series in which Badass (their) Howard and Baldwin team up as vigilantes, eliminating evil people from the world(s).
