I enjoy reading about the mystery movies on your reviews. Some people complain if the story in a movie isn't neatly tied up for them at the end. As a mystery fan I wallow in unresolved endings. I think that is why often enjoy the first half of films where the mystery is still drawing me in. Even though I know that reveals are necessary in murder mysteries.

I think that Daphne Du Maurier's obituarist puts it so well when you mention this towards the end of your review. "Calculated irresolution" and wanting "riddles to persist" and "haunt(ing) us beyond the endings" is a lovely way of expressing how I feel about the delights of mystery stories.

Thanks! :) I love unresolved, open-to-interpretation and downbeat endings, too ... they leave your mind whirling when a film ends.
