What if the McDonalds bros hadn't sold their soul to the Devil?

Would they have just kept on with their down home ways? Would Ray just have gone on & copied their business model? Would either have been as successful without the others?

Well the McDonald brothers did state they had other people try to copy what they were doing with their McDonalds and it didn't work for them. Kroc could have copied it but who knew if it were to work.

The brothers were contempt with just having that one McDonalds they developed and just running it as is without franchising it across the country. Then Kroc would have simply moved on because the brothers weren't going to budge.

Then you wouldn't have had McDonalds all over the world. Who knows if you were to have Burger King, In and Out Burger, Wendy's or other hamburger type fast food places since they were all an answer to McDonalds more or less.

I can speak from personal knowledge, as Maurice "Mac" McDonald was my uncle by marriage to my aunt in the early 60's (but have known him since he opened his first one in San Bernadino). They were very savvy & bright businessmen, as Ray Kroc attested to, but they did not have the vision & frankly, ruthlessness he had to make what he did of McDonalds. Mac was one of the sweetest men I ever knew. He had a heart of gold, but you never knew he had a dime...

Was the handshake deal true?

Go interview your local mom & pop establishment, they're out there to this day. One doesn't have to solely place the original McDonald's stand under microscope, there are millions of untapped places just like it today.
Do you/we know about them all? Not a prayer.

no, they needed the name

They did not sell their souls and Ray Kroc is no devil.

They sold for cash but idiots like to pretend they got nothing for the company instead of $2.7M.
