It's not that they are so bad, but they shouldn't need the conversations about their relationships in every episode.
They're not great, but that's not the worst of it to me. I don't really like the 'we don't have magic anymore...but we do...but we don't have a lot...but here's a wishing well full of it...oh but I got stabbed by an enchanted lemon so not anymore...but I cried and it's back now!" flip-flopping.
I get that they need to raise the stakes while also lending hope to their characters. But it's just not well balanced. The relationship thing, on the other hand, is just a boring and lazy outdated thing all shows tend to do.
