modern conveniences

Paddy didn't blink one time at modern devices. Yeah, he was annoyed about the casino machines in his pub. Otherwise, he didn't even blink at cars, electricity, the cell phone, the dirt bike. I couldn't tell what time he was actually from, because the US and Australia may not coincide, but i was guessing late 1800's.

The only person who seemed to react, somewhat, was the world war one kid. Charlie? Can't think of name. He was touching the lamp. He was surprised there were two world wars. He looked up when a commercial plane flew overhead. Yeah, they had airplanes in WWI, but not the big silver/white planes we have now.

If noisy giant metal things were all around, and I'd never seen a car before, I would be freaked out. Not sure I would just jump in one.

I thought about this as well, and I would have enjoyed seeing more of this, along with more freaked-out reactions by the living people finding out the dead had risen. But as a couple people have said in the thread, they would have had to spend a lot of screen time on this, and it would have slowed down movement of the overall plot. I would have liked it, but I can see how they might have felt.

The other problem is that it would be difficult to write and act a lot of this stuff, because we honestly don't really know how people would actually react.

You're forgetting that they don't remember much when they first come back. By the time most of them start recovering memories, they're already accustomed to the world they've woken up in.

Considering we don't know all the rules about memory and why they are alive, it's very possible they look at all the technology and don't remember if it was in their timeframe or not. If you had amnesia and woke up in 2075, you may not remember if certain technological advances were already made and you possibly forgot about them. Plus you just came back from the dead, so perhaps the advances made didn't quite amaze you as much as other phenomenon going on in your life.

I am surprised the alive people were more reactive to seeing dead people. I would honestly go ape sh*t if a person I knew was dead came back to life

I was surprised Charlie was from ww1 because they had light bulbs by then, even cinemas as for films, yet he acted like he never saw or heard of a lamp before.

Paddy and Charlie had _some_ reactions to the advances. The person who I found most unphased by the modern world was John William (beyond punching all the people). He was swiping key-cards and looking at airplanes like it was nothing new to him.

Maybe it was the shock of being back from the dead that muted their reactions to technology, though some of the characters were shown to be frustrated by it briefly.
