Movie sustantiates a lot of jewish stereotypes

Im watching this movie as a,middle age jewish adult. I have always known my family and other jewish friends to be generous with their money. However, this, movie ,by emphasizing madoff·S jewishness may promote some antisemitism..it is very well acted though. Any comnents regarding this issue...jewish or non jewish contributors may respond

They are not all Jewish because of greed. They are Jewish because he went for family and friends. That's what's so sick about it. These weren't random people. Many were family and most were at least good friends or family of friends. It was called a "Familial" Ponzi Scheme because of that. It's one thing to con random people you don't even know. He conned family and friends.

It is what it is. Forget about Bernie for a moment and ask why no regulators picked up on this racket? This is where Stereoypes become really harmful.

If you want to talk about stereotypes... what about the Italians cooking the books on the 17th floor doing his dirty work and the way they made them talk and act?

As an Italian should I be offended?

I just saw the movie as this is the way it was. I feel like it is portraying what really happened in the best light they can. Greed is the main issue here, and every race can have greedy people. Greedy people are everywhere.

I appreciate every ones response. Greed is the common denominator here.It doesnt matter what your, nationality is. Im proud that im jewish and im sure the Italian person is proud of his heritage. But America shouldng work for the greedy..but some still get away with it.

I'm Jewish and wasn't offended at all by anything in this movie...all they did was not HIDE the fact that Bernie is Jewish.

My parents, as well as many others in my family, have been incredibly generous to me my whole life The 'cheap stereotype' has more to do with their original business practices, I would guess (???)

I'm worried about anti-Semitism arising from MADOFF. Growing up, I heard stereotypes about Jewish obsession with making money, although mostly it was laughed and joked about and without the hate that occurred with the kind of anti-Semitism in 1930s and early 40s Nazi Germany. I even heard a stereotype of Scots being stingy with money. And then Asians wanted to be admired for handling money 'wisely' and 'smartly'. Speaking of which, I was concerned that Adolf Hitler, somewhere in his burning hell, will point his bony, burning finger and yell, See! See! I told you about the Jews!

But the last forty years of American financial history includes lots of fraudsters of varying ethnic backgrounds.

Minority people have another thing to watch out for, people of their own race and ethnicity using phony appeals to racial/ethnic togetherness to garner trust.

But most of New York businessmen are Jewish -- so this does NOT represent anything that is false. Being Jewish is very much a part of New York life and high-finance there.

Indeed. And they don't call it jew diligence for nothing!
