I'm worried about anti-Semitism arising from MADOFF. Growing up, I heard stereotypes about Jewish obsession with making money, although mostly it was laughed and joked about and without the hate that occurred with the kind of anti-Semitism in 1930s and early 40s Nazi Germany. I even heard a stereotype of Scots being stingy with money. And then Asians wanted to be admired for handling money 'wisely' and 'smartly'. Speaking of which, I was concerned that Adolf Hitler, somewhere in his burning hell, will point his bony, burning finger and yell, See! See! I told you about the Jews!
But the last forty years of American financial history includes lots of fraudsters of varying ethnic backgrounds.
Minority people have another thing to watch out for, people of their own race and ethnicity using phony appeals to racial/ethnic togetherness to garner trust.
