Pretty good

seems everyone wants to just hate on this movie "just because" and not for any actual reason. I think AVPR is better but i still liked this regardless.

A) You like this.
B) You like AVP: Requiem
Conclusion: Your opinion is worthless.

The Predator was a steaming pile of shit.
It's only purpose was to "deconstruct" the original masterpiece.
Example: "Get to the choppers!" - Pan to a group of "chopper" motorcycles.

I hated this movie the first time I watched it when it came out 4 years ago. Found the forced humor of the Tourettes guy (an underused Thomas Jane) unfunny, the kid (subplot) annoying & ridiculous, the dogs adding nothing to the overall appeal of the movie and the "predator killer" too cartoon-ish.

Re-watched it again earlier last night and liked it a lot better. Maybe I expected too much and felt let down the first time, but this time around, I was expecting a pile of dogshit I could barely remember (other than how disappointed I was when I watched it in 2018) and instead, found the action scenes were good and the movie kept its pace throughout, never slowing down. The humor was still lame and forced, not to mention plot holes like Olivia M's teleportation in the end, but those aside, it was a good movie overall.

I think the Predator franchise movies are better with a more sombre, bordering-on-horror tone and not having too much humor injected a la Marvel flicks. Liked Prey as well. Same goes for AvP:R - it's one of my guilty pleasures, even though it's inferior to AvP.
