Predator 1st movie's essence

I've watched this movie for 2nd time and I must say that it was a disappointment for me.
When I found out that the director is going to be Shane Black I said "oh well, for sure he'll pick up the real essence of Predator movies" but after watching the result I really got frustrated; all that DNA stuff was totally unnecessary from my point of view! I undestand the times are changed but why appeal to that kind of things?
Anyway, this is just my personal opinion... what do you think guys??

The DNA story added NOTHING to the film, it was just nonsense. Probably some Illuminati sub-plot only alien worshiping scumbags understand.

Eeh, I think Shane Black is a way too much overrated director and writer. Yes, he can write witty dialogue, I'll give him that, but he does the same movie over and over and over. He has a checklist that is becoming less of a trademark and more of a nuisance.

Anyway, I had no expectations whatsoever and the movie managed to disappoint me nonetheless, go figure. The DNA subplot is hot garbage, the uber Predator is stinky garbage, the Predator hounds are ridicolous garbage and the Predator suit for humans is stupid garbage.

Nothing about this movie catches the essence of the first Predator and it's just a poorly thought and executed cash grab made for a casual audience that doesen't give a damn about the lore.

Even Predators (2010) with Adrian Brody had a better essence of the first Predator and even they introduced some rival Predator bullshit there.
