What's up with this weird "invisible tokenism" in entertainment lately where a characters queerness is *alluded* to by the writers OUTSIDE of the work, but they can never just BE queer in the work? Adventure Time, Beauty and the Beast, etc. Also, Sulu in Star Trek: Beyond. I feel like his partner was barely on screen for a second, and, (please call me out if I'm wrong, but) did they even kiss or anything?
