The Ending...

So I really liked the film in and of itself. Cool concept that was done ambitiously and done well too. That being said I don't think this should create a new sub-genre of horror like Blair Witch did for found footage. My only problem was with how the movie ended and how writers didn't see the better ending right in front of their faces. Throughout the film the Blair keeps going to the site about not answering messages from the dead and what will happen if you do, etc. One thing they keep saying is that the dead can trick you and will make you commit suicide. That being known I feel it would have been awesome if instead of Blaire being attacked at the end she actually kills herself via whatever means and then it is revealed to the audience that the entire movies events were all just a trick by Laura. Everything Blaire had seen on her screen was not real and all of Blaire's friends are home safe and sound wondering why she hasn't picked up their calls/messages all night. Just a thought let me know if anyone else saw that ending coming and were let down greatly.

Your kind of ending borders on a April Fool's joke. I think the ending was fine as it is.

No that crappy chi ghost jumping down from the ceiling was an April fools joke ha ha ha but we all have our own opinions.

I thought an appropriate ending would simply be Blaine killing herself out of shame, directly following in Laura's footsteps. Guess they couldn't resist one last dumb jump scare...

Too on the nose.

But yeah the ending was jlting but really pihssed me off.

I think your ending is a FAR better idea.. and I was thinking it would be something of this ilk.. instead of just some " OH I'TS LAURA'S GHOST" silliness. I hated it.

The ending in the final film actually wasn't the original one. The original one had her becoming possessed and committing suicide by getting hit by a truck. Blumhouse wanted them to reshoot it for the final version.

The only problem with the ending was that last jump scare of the dead girl attacking. It should have ended with computer being slammed shut. I enjoyed this movie, which surprised me. I assumed it would be boring. It kept me glued to the SCREEN.

reply

Agreed. This was a fun movie, but the ending with the jump scare just felt cheap. Not surprisng though considering Blumhouse.
