Could Any Movie Be Any More Sluggish and Slow?

Excellent acting by the two leads. But, Lord, this film moved about as sluggishly and slowly as any I've ever seen. Even the the fine acting was barely enough to keep me from nodding off. There's really no reason to pay to see this in a theater. You'll sleep much more comfortably on your couch "watching" it when it comes on cable. No, I am not a big "Fast and Furious" or "fruit cart" movie fan. I like human stories as much as anyone, but this one moved like a slug.

The shooting pace was perhaps done to suggest their lethargic almost comatose marriage at that point.

reply

But aren't most marriages of that length?

Well said.

reply

Why didnt you fast forward then. Jesus.

reply

You can't fast forward in a movie theatre.

reply

If you think this one is slow, then don't go see The Wait (L'attesa) with Juliette Binoche. It's glacially-paced.

reply

Yea you can, just go back into the projector room and speed up the reel.

The pace was deliberately slow, as some have suggested as it wanted to pull you in to the rhythm of their sedate, uneventful life. Then a bit of quiet shock and melancholy (and remorse) as the "other woman" mystery unfolds. A bit of drama, regrets and perhaps some sort of acceptance or maybe not.
