It just boggles my mind how a quality show like this gets canceled but absolute dreck like DwtS, The Bachelor, and even AFV with its slew of unfunny hosts has stayed on the air for years. Is the viewing public really that stupid that they're giving that garbage so much better ratings? That is...I don't even know. It's just sad.

I'm absolutely gutted. This has really ruined my day. I was so looking forward to the conversation between Jo and Henry. Screw ABC. I'm done with their shows.
shareI can't believe some of the garbage they kept on deck. I LOVED this show. It has a strong following, just not a large one. It would be perfect for Netflix or Amazon, etc. Here's to hoping.
It's funny, similar shows in the past decade that I've just loved - New Amsterdam, Journeyman - all got the axe in season one. Why? It's a solid premise, and this show was done so well. So well.

A great premise botched by faulty choices (naked in the East River, a milquetoast lead character), period costume melodrama, and a severe lack of aggressive and ambitious storytelling.
sharei think they canceled this show because they thought and felt it was about Henry always coming back to life alive naked. and it felt a bit like "Smallville" keeping Lana in the dark not telling her his secret so that could be the reason. Since Highway To Heaven got canceled people slowly forgot how to make these shows. don't forget not only amarica is corrupted so is Television is corrupted.

I would argue that Henry is anything but timid or weak. The man is a veteran of a few wars and seen more death than we could ever dream (have nightmares?) of, willingly gotten himself killed more times than you can count (it all still hurt remember), yet still hasn't lost his sanity and has a healthy relationship with his son and colleagues. The only thing I could see come across as maybe timidity is his need for secrecy about his life so he sometimes holds back doing/saying certain things, which is understandable given his situation.
The only reason this failed is the brain-dead moronic masses flocking to garbage TV like sheep because it feeds into their low mental processing abilities while shows like this with heart and intelligence dwindle off into the ratings abyss. Nothing more.

shareToo bad it didn't find an audience. "Forever" wasn't always great, but it was much better than so much of the crap on TV. I thought the lead actors were perfect and it would have been nice to see what happened after (if) Jo found out Henry's secret.
ANd this is why I canceled my Tv provider just not worth the $60 to keep I watched none of the shows that they kept Just Forever. I had hoped that this was the beginning of a turn to better TV That they may treat as they once did Sienfeld and Friends who had lackluster starts but turned into mega hits. The Networks just no longer give shows a chance it is no longer entertainment its about the money where they per fur to put trash reality TV/ game shows on then good scripted tv.
Pretty soon they will find themselves with no viewers as we all slowly drop our providers and use the internet instead to watch. Just wow beautifully scripted drama well acted and filmed beautifully cancel but the dregs of crap left on the air. Sad days sad sad days.
