So, why is it a "Curse?"

The title of the show is "The Curse of Oak Island." But all they do is dig holes, run around in swamps, and swim in narrowly drilled shafts. I understand a few people may have died looking for the treasure in past times, but that's hardly a curse. It's just the result of digging a big ass hole and not properly stabilizing it. A "Curse" relating to Oak Island isn't even discussed on the show. In my opinion, the show should have been titled "Let's Dig a Bunch of Holes on our Private Island, and then Pretend Like We're about to Find Something Big at the End of Every 9 Minute Segment so that the Viewer Comes Back after the Commercials, then Pretend like We're Going to Find Something Really Big at the End of Each Episode, and then Pretend During Each Year's Season Finale that We've Found the Treasure but You'll Have to Wait until Next Year to See It." I, for one, remain intrigued and am optimistic treasure will appear soon.

You forgot "Let's promote our tourism business".
There is so much filler and recapping that the only way to watch this show is bingeing an old season and skipping ahead to the recap at the end of each episode. I cannot imagine the frustration of watching it in real time, one episode a week, with no fast forward button.

But I still keep watching.
They better either find some treasure or someone better die trying.
