Emily Blunt character so annoying!

Her character is an idiot and completely unbelievable. She threatens the CIA, and has no simpathy for Benicio Del Toro's character after hearing about the fate of his wife and daughter. What is she trying to do take down the CIA Operatives because they are not prosecuting the drug dealers on Money laundering ? Her liberal minded plan is naive and stupid, her annoying character ruined the movie

This was probably the weakest point to the movie for me. It does deal with a very difficult concept for most human's. Do we maintain our moral code when fighting against an evil that has no moral compass or do we unlesh our own morally corrupt monsters?

I think the movie gave her more than enough reasons to accept what was being done and while they were trying to show her strength in standing her ground. i think ultimately it was a failure in an otherwise fantastic film.

Agreed! No one of that low level of discipline and high level of cowardice would ever be invited to be on a high stakes tactical team. We are to believe that the shooting scene, at the beginning of the movie, establishes her as a iron woman with nerves of steel. In contrast, she rather dramatically becomes a defiant, confused boob in the pre-departure meeting room and finally disobeying orders when she refuses to get out of the vehicle at the border. After 30 minutes of watching this drivel, I gave up and fell asleep. If this type of screen writing is what now passes for excellence in Hollywood, I'll pass.

How do you have sympathy for someone who does the exact same thing you are supposed to be sympathizing with him for?

You think every intelligence officer is like Brolin's? Yhere is a reason most people are kept in the dark - they can't handle reality. She was VERY realistic.

Yeah, I have to say, while I love the overall movie, Emily Blunt's character hardly did anything except serve as our eyes and ears. I guess she was supposed to represent any one of us that would naively think we could fight drug cartels by the book, but somehow it wasn't effectively conveyed, at least upon a first viewing. I left with the impression that all her character did was stand around and either look pissed off or scared. It's a pity because all the other characters felt solid.
