Wrong novel to adapt

Never go back is 18 the novel in the series where Reacher comes to know he has a daughter. When we read the novels we know Reacher is a guy who has no home or family and suddenly we get to know he has a kid. But this is just the 2nd movie in series and it is too early to use this plot. When there so many good Reacher novels they should not have gone for this.
