What's the scariest movie you've seen?

I want to watch them all!

The Exorcist and Annabelle are the two scariest movies for me!!!!!

I haven't watched a lot of horror movies in my time but the ones which stand out are - Trilogy of Terror ( especially "Amelia" the one with the Zuma doll) , Poltergeist and The Shining.

I don't understand why so many people answer "Blair Witch". I didn't find "Blair Witch" scary at all. Not the least bit.

Because tastes in film vary. Crazy, right? It's why I see so many people amp up The Conjuring for how scary it is, and yet I saw it in theaters and I may have jumped once. It didn't do anything for me.

well i think I am a bit jaded by watching so many horror movies, so it takes a lot to creep me out, but I will say "signs" creeped me out some...yeah the ending twist was stupid as hell, but scenes like when mel Gibson was in the corn field with his flash light and happens to shine it over in time to see the leg of an alien going into a bush, or the footage of the alien at the birthday party or the hand in the basement...creepy stuff. Mostly I find real life serial killer movies the scariest because they are real monsters that can really get you. Some of the more disturbing films (not necessarily scary but disturbing no less) would be " texas chainsaw massacre 1974, the whole film just feels gritty and dirty, i can almost smell the decay coming off the hot texas roads. Then there's the rarely heard of "confessions of a serial killer 1985 - based on real life serial killer Henry lee Lucas (just make sure you watch the uncut one) and i personally think this was better then "Henry portrait of a serial killer" a movie also based off the same killer. So here's a list of movies I guess i would find scary.

Signs
Texas chainsaw massacre (1974)
Confessions of a serial killer- uncut version (1985)
the gates of hell (1980)
the fog (1980)
two evil eyes
salo - this is just disturbing on too many levels to describe
Amittyville horror 2 - the possession- way more creepy then the first movie and the first half of the movie is pretty much based on the real Defeo family that was murdered in the house.
seven - just a dark gritty film that makes you very uncomfortable

I will add more in the future.

Insidious - the first half is legitimately the most disturbed I have ever felt in a movie. The silence is just...deafening.

The Strangers - this flick is terrifying because there's no supernatural angle. It's all just humanity at its most sadistic.

The Conjuring - I think it was mostly about the acting in that one.

I think that's why I liked this film, especially about the break-in. There's nothing more frightening to me than feeling like someone is in your house.

Honestly, it would be "The Gates of Hell" (aka "City of the Living Dead"), the Fulci cult classic.
Something about that old dead lady in the house and demon-zombies peeking at you through windows at night. Chilling as can be.
