Yikes. Sounds like this decades' The Last Airbender.

The review misses what was apparently the biggest problem for people that had read the books, this movie has the typical woke treatment with character genders and races changed to the point that viewers familiar with the book will likely never finish the movie. At least that was the experience in my family, the daughter that had read and like the books didn't make it past the first 30 minutes before she declared they've ruined it by changing everything and left... the other daughter not familiar managed to set through it but found it so boring that when it was over she wished she had turned it off when her sister quit watching.

For an adult unfamiliar is was really crappy. Insanely slow to develop and had some bits that were a bit weird where a guy clearly in his 30's is making passes at a fairy that while supposedly hundreds of years old is played by an actress that appear to be a teen... just kind of perverted is how it came across.

Clearly Disney has set this up to be a multi-film franchise... but I suspect it will never go forward because it was truly shit.
