Funniest scene.

When the whole family comes running out of the house and they go to their neighbors'.
I missed it on theaters, I imagine that scene brought a lot of laughs

The funniest scene for me was when the Demon thing goes into the painting and lunges at Patrick Wilson's wife. It should have been scary but I burst out laughing at it.

Yeah that didn't work out the way they intended it to, at least for some of us, because I had a similar reaction.

I also thought the "Crooked Man" was strange and poorly done. It just looked like bad CGI, the way it transformed from the dog to this cartoonish-looking stick figure, tripping a kid with a cane and laughing.

Bigly.

Check the trivia section. It was actually a real life person playing the character.

I actually found it very effective 😨

The fat oaf neighbour taking 20 minutes to break into the cellar with his hatchet.

reply

THIS!! I was like, at this point he's just trying to make himself look busy! Lmao!

reply

I'm sure it was intended as such: the bit with Ed Warren hoisting the camera onto his shoulder and pronouncing it "so small, and light!"

reply

I'm reading this post whilst watching the movie and i read your comment a second before it came on! Trippy *beep*

1. Ed asking Peggy about her husband:
"He took away the music when he left the house." - Peggy
"I know it must feel that way." - Ed
"No, he LITERALLY took all the records and record player.." - Peggy

2. "This is so small and light" Ed says while holding a giant-ass camera.

3. The fat guy not being able to go through the hole he made on the door.

4. "Let me take a look at your washing machine, how bad could it be?" Ed says, followed by the view of a basement full of water in the next scene.

reply

Yeah, that was a pretty funny scene.

The scene where the daughter makes them turn their backs so she can make the creepy old man voice.

I was laughing my ass off when they were running out the house to the neighbors. A whole family full of Usain Bolts.
