Suspiciously high score

Where did the nearly 2000 (46%) 10/10s for this movie come from? It really is a very messy, flawed film combining a serious drama with Indiana Jones ridiculousness, and I would be unsurprised if the score has been flooded in some way.

I have to totally agree with that. I literally groaned at a few scenes in the movie, since it was billed as something I was supposed to take seriously, instead of looking at it as an adventure film where you just suspend disbelief and go with the absurd escapes and telegraphed plot points.

The production values were good, I'll give it that. But the story dragged at many points, and was just not believable in the least. I wish they hadn't opened with "Inspired by a true story". I know from experience that means you are about to see a work of pure fiction that has some small basis in reality, a reality that the film does not reflect.

As I write this the score is 7.1. Even that seems high to me. I was very disappointed. If you want to see a more realistic account of this period and war, watch the 1981 film "Gallipoli" directed by Peter Weir.
