Suspiciously high score

Where did the nearly 2000 (46%) 10/10s for this movie come from? It really is a very messy, flawed film combining a serious drama with Indiana Jones ridiculousness, and I would be unsurprised if the score has been flooded in some way.

I agree with savageparade, I am surprised at the high score and the movie was unintentionaly funny in spots with the Indiana Jones train sequence.

You walked into the wrong door. The Avengers was being shown in a different cinema.

Shame IMDB doesn't have an upvote. You sir, got mine!

IMDB ratings are always BS. Just look at the movie Gunday. A film that got solid reviews and a majority of people seemed to like, but there was some kind of national campaign in Bangladesh to give it all 1/10s because they felt offended by it.

Couldn't agree more. Crowe is an incredible actor and he's one of my favorites, but he should either stick to only acting or not direct himself. The film was a mess and his performance was not on par with his norm. The flow of the movie was terrible. One scene just did not flow well into the next.

I have a pretty good idea why the high score and all the 10's. This was released first in Australia and New Zealand. Having followed many Australian movies, Aussies tend to give perfect ratings and are quite zealous about their movies. Normally this is cool and commendable except when it comes to unrealistic ratings for movies. It's a shame. I'm very proud of accomplishments from my own country, but I never fudge the ratings(so to speak). It's now entering the US market and other markets and that rating should drop off, but it will still be well overstated with 46% 10's. I gave it a very realistic 5/10. That's all it deserved.

I was wondering the same thing. I gave it a "6". It started off as a promising story but it devolved into a level of storytelling that was more than absurd. I think sometimes these filmmakers want to fill up two hours of time, so the writers come up with just ridiculous filler. You are right - it started off as a moving story of a grief-stricken father looking for his sons, and then it becomes Indiana Jones siding with the Turks and fighting the Greeks. The editing of the film was just awful. I expect this film to be dumped into Netflix before too long along with other recent bombs.

I know the message is powerful, but it took me three days to finish it. I kept falling asleep.

I hesitated between 6 and 5 myself, eventually settled for the lower score because the direction really wasn't all that good (and that includes the cinematography and editing). I think most of the 10 came from Australia and Turkey? One Turkish review on here called it "a must-see, a masterpiece" and what-not. I guess they get hysterical because a Hollywood movie has been made about an important part of their history?
