She's a good actress and the nudity was driven by the plot. I won't say it was in "good taste" because, by the very nature of the story and these characters' vocations, it is not supposed to be in good taste.
Still, I don't see a reason to mock her for this. She accepted a role in a movie and did all that was required of her, including getting nude and playing some rough and uncomfortable scenes.
You don’t see a problem with a movie that the Studio clearly thought was going to flop, just based on how little advertising they did for it and how last minute the trailer was.
So her answer is to come out afew weeks before and under the guise of “this film made me feel comfortable naked again”, bascically is just saying “come see it I’m nude!!”
Talk about objectifying yourself. Talk about having so little confidence in your acting ability that the only way to get butts in seats in scream for attention that you are naked.
Yet again, another gimmick by Jlaw to get attention.
I think we are mixing several issues here.
She got naked as part of her role. Sometimes actors and actresses strip for their portrayals. It's just part of the job.
The way you're describing it makes it seem like she signed on to do a porno or something. It a role in an adult thriller, a "Hard R" as they call it. She committed to the project and stepped up.
Let me ask you this: would it change anything if the film was rated 10/10 by critics and IMDb users, open and stay #1 at the box-office for weeks on end and be marketed heavily as the Studios tentpole of the season? Would all that then make her nudity more appropriate?
At the end of the day, I just see this as an actress doing her job.
And how the fuck is it an "objective" analysis exactly?
Sounds to me more like a personal far-fetched assumption.
Actresses often make these kinds of unnecessary comments about their work. JLaw had always been somehow of an attention seeker, so I don't see why she wouldn't had said it out of the blue without thinking about selling tickets.
You can be right as well... But no need to be such a jackass about it.
Again. It’s pretty down obvious to anyone who knows anything about marketing.
Studios are a big part of the actors messaging especially when they talk about the film.
Their job is to sell tickets and make money. One or both thought of the idea (not ecaxaclty a new one that sex’s sells) but either way the studio approved and allowed her.
