James H. (several times)….

….didn’t answer in the form of a question. Easily 3-4 times, and was never called on it.

I'm really glad you brought this up. My husband and I caught that too. Mattea, on the other hand, answered the question in that category with the usual "what is".

I've been following people's responses on FB, and a lot of people are saying that when the answer is in the form of a question, there is no need to say "what is". I don't buy that! We've watched Jeopardy! for years and that has NEVER been the case. If that was a legitimate Jeopardy! rule, why didn't Mattea know about it?

Just for the record, IF it was a Jeopardy! rule and Alex was still the host, I guarantee he would mention to the audience why he and the judges are accepting James' not using the required format.

I've searched and searched on line for Jeopardy! rules and cannot find anything that says if the answer is in the form of a question, contestants do not have to start with "what is". Maybe someone on this board will have better luck finding it and can post it. Unless I see something otherwise, I feel that James should have been called on it. I don't think it was fair at all.
