I don't get all the Duncan hate

I really liked Duncan. I was thrilled when V got back with him at the end of S1. He was a good guy, and when he left I loved that V ended up back with Logan. I like Logan too... I loved them both... just like Veronica I suppose.

Everyone keeps saying how they are glad he didn't make it back, but no one says why they don't like him.

If they do make another movie/TV show, I hope his story comes back into play.
He is probably still on the run with his child, but then again, with his parents millions and the truth about Meg's parents coming to light (surely Lam pursued the matter, it was one of the few times we saw him being a human being. Unless I've forgotten though, I don't think we did ever hear what happened to Meg's family after V recued Meg's sister) the army of lawyers and payoffs they could afford would have made Duncan a free man by now, with custody of his daughter.

Duncan is sexy.
...but a sexy man doesn't create as much drama as a coked-out sociopath.

reply

No, he wasn't sexy at all.

What sociopath?

reply

i liked the character but his story was finished. Bringing him back would be entirely pointless and a waste of already precious screen time.

reply

I did hope that duncan would have returned for the movie even if it was small role since I would imagine that he was a good father to his daughter and returned for the high school reunion.

reply

I really missed seeing Duncan. I thought he was a slightly entertaining character in the show. I would have liked to see him at the reunion and maybe bring some closure to Aaron being killed by talking to Veronica about it.

Off topic but did Veronica ever mentioned in season 3 how Aaron was dead now?

reply

I think there was some mention of it when V spoke about Logan and Dick now living together. How they had both just lost someone or something like that... I think.

I was really hoping Duncan was in the movie, I loved their relationship and like many felt it ended too abruptly.

I hated the Meg and baby drama.. Just didn't like the way they ended and then all of a sudden logan was her true love...gmab.

Dont blast me for grammar errors its hard posting on the phone

There's no reason for him to be on the run.
The mother of the child is dead and he is the father. This fact alone makes him the custodial parent.

A couple of reasons:

1. Die for Our Ship - This one is obvious. He HUGELY got in the way of LoVe back in Season 2, which is the show's most popular pairing. So that inspired a lot of hate. The fact him/Veronica aren't particularly compelling together doesn't help

2. Actor isn't very good. I mean, I think the character actually had a lot of potential to be interesting but he.... wasn't. The actor is pretty bland and lifeless, which makes it hard to invest in the character

3. A lot of his "good guy" stuff feels like character shilling. Even ignoring the fact he refuses to take his meds which keep him behaving fairly rationally (Vs. violent outburts)..... the guy has sex with Veronica when she thinks she's his sister (and never tells her about it despite her thinking she was, ya know, raped), he acts like a jealous douche the minute she starts dating Logan, etc.

I didn't mind Duncan (although lots of the things he did bugged me: he hid the truth from Veronica, broke up with her randomly, and never really helped when the whole school turned against her. Plus, didnt it turn out that he took part in the rape...like he knew about it or tried to make a move? The whole thing was messed up).

BUT Duncan with Veronica made no sense after who Veronica became. She was tough and she needed someone like that for her (Logan), because she was no longer the innocent, sweet person she used to be prior to Lily's death and the school turning on her. Logan had that ferocity that Duncan lacked.

Duncan was MUCh better suited for Meg. They were similar-minded people and idk why they broke up. Veronica outgrew Duncan and i think the season 2 dream/au fantasy she had spoke to how her subconscious picked Logan over Duncan anyways.

A rose is just a rose.
