IN SUPPORT OF JEFF GARLIN--DEATH TO CANCEL CULTURE

It seems Jeff Garlin is an inadvertent casualty of the entire cancel culture/#MeToo witchhunt which is destroying careers on no evidence and is based on the hypersensitivity of people who are not out for justice, but revenge. Jeff, as a comedian and comic actor, has most likely been doing his same schtick for decades on sets where he works. He wouldn't have had a 21 year career on Curb Your Enthusiasm if Larry David didn't think he had incredible talents at improv. Much of his humor, as with his character on Curb, could be said to be off-color, which some of us prefer. I imagine he wasn't doing anything different on the set of Goldbergs than he always does, but in the present atmosphere of hypersensitivity, some of his co-workers suddenly got it into their heads 'Hey that's offensive. He shoulnt say that." And then they talk about this with others and get them believing that the same stuff that they would have chuckled at before is now a damnable sin. And suddenly management gets involved, and to placate hurt feelings the star of the show gets fired. It's a #MeToo cancellation without the sexual harassment, just a few Puritans who don't like dirty jokes. Shame on all of you who think Larry should fire him from Curb. This is where Curb's power should show itself---the #MeToo "movement" and the present drive to "disappear" artists based on unproven allegations and people not being able to take a joke deserve to be utterly destroyed by comedians. Bill Burr has already done some of it in "Paper Tiger". Curb needs to go further and make a complete mockery of cancel culture and all those who support it. I would be disappointed if it didn't use this incident for laughs next season (as it did with Michael Richard's unfortunate n-word meltdown). I pray the best for Jeff and hope that he and Larry successfully skewer these hypocrites and pious prudes.

Maybe his shtick got worse. Fact is he was being a jerk all the time.

Do you think.so?

reply

Jeff Garlin is the greatest. Sorry, I just don't give a fuck if some woman felt offended by whatever he did. Deal with it.

Amen

I don't have to deal with it. Nor does it matter whether you thrive on being insulting. What matters is that they had every right to chuck Garlin for acting like a jerk.

reply

As a television viewer I don't give a rat's ass if all those self entitled people on the set had a nice day. Garlin did the goddamn job. That's all that matters in the production of tv show.

So cry me a river if somebody felt insulted and didn't like it. Boo hoo hoo. If he contributed to the success of the show, keep him on the show.

reply

Garlin, is that you?

reply

Okay, what about a diva like Cher or Madonna? Say she's rude to everybody on the set? Do you cancel the show because some actress is difficult to work with?

reply

Why is it that people who complain about other people being thin skinned are usually thin skinned themselves.
