Should there be a fourth film

Even though this film seemed to conclude Larry's story but I think a potential fourth film left it open to continue with Tilley as the new main character,

I think the film closed off everything in a nice way. The tablet was only there to visit, so they wouldn't remain alive for much longer unless they went back to England with it. With the death of Robin Williams, I doubt they would want to continue with any of the original characters because his absence would be really jarring. Plus, I love how they left off Larry's story. His last character arc was about moving on and letting go, and his standing in front of (but not entering and joining the party) at the museum at the end was perfect.

I could see them one day trying to pick it up in the British museum, but Ben Stiller's Larry was more interesting to be than Rebel Wilson's Tilly. I'm sure they could expand her character more to fill out another movie, but I didn't find the exhibits in that museum nearly as fun as the ones in the New York one.

Um, no.

Better to know when to stop. The third one was the finishing point.

reply

ben isn't fun any more, specially after the first movie. but they need to go back to the writers of the second movie.

I don't think he is supposed to be funny in this. He's the straight man. And he has issues with job and family.

I think they inserted the caveman character, also played by Stiller, just so he could have some funny bits in the movie.

reply

he wasn't even funny in the second movie, the bad pharaoh totally stole the movie from him.

reply

No, this should be the last, it wrapped it up nicely.

Wasn't me

They were going to make a spin-off featuring Jedediah and Octavius, but the plan got scratched when Robin Williams died.

I recently just saw all three NATM films and I have to say that the 3rd one is a good closer. Would I say the film was perfect? No but I feel it got a good finish and even though they could go make more with a different lead, I don't think they will be as successful or possibly no where near as successful as the other movies.
I remember reading an interview from the director where he said Robin William's death really sealed the fact that there won't be a 4th one, for me of course his death was so sad and terrible overall but I feel regardless this story has run its course.
One thing I found in the second and third films was they were good but the stories felt recycled in some ways, I feel this was good as a trilogy and it was nice to see a proper ending.
After seeing the 2nd film and before realizing there was a third one, I did feel there was one more story to be told but hopefully that would be it because there are some movies that have to be extra special to be able to pull off a 4th or 5th one. The third one was good in some ways for sure when it came to some of the comedy, the story being wrapped up but I don't feel it would've been financially successful if they did make a 4th film, especially if Ben Stiller wasn't in it. The only one I could see them doing is a straight to DVD separate story....kinda like what they did with Beethoven. But I doubt they'll do it.

reply

Hope not. NatM:SotT was a mediocre film with some good aspects.

reply

Eh I think it ended fine.
