does it get better?

I saw the first two episodes and then was never in the right mood for the show (I normally watch things during my breaks from work, and need something "lighter" to relax), and then I saw a whole bunch of reviews saying that episode after episode went by without the story progressing anywhere, so I want to know if the show is worth getting back to at all?

Did the story eventually get somewhere, was the resolution satisfying?

Well I do not believe this is a show that is suited for that kind of viewing;-) and it is hard for me to say if it gets better because I enjoyed the first 2 episodes and the other 6 episodes as well... though the last 2 are my favorites...

I feel there is a lot of progression in the show even though I admit that it is slow in the begining... And I loved the ending...

So I would recomment it... unless you really hated the first 2 episodes... then this show is probably not your cop of tea...

I didn't hate them, but they didn't pull me in.

Then watch'em

I am four episodes in. There are way too many flashbacks but I will finish it.

I’ve gotten to know you a little bit, exatera, I don’t think you’d find the time-invested/payoff ratio satisfying. I didn’t.

I gotta say though, I tuned in during one episode and it was a scene where the detective and Camille were about to "get it on", and he was standing there naked masturbating over her - I kinda couldn't believe the actor (Chris Messina) agreed to that 🤔, not exactly an attractive or dignified look.

There are definitely, um, ATTENTION-getting things is SO. In my opinion, its casting, acting, production values and narrative range from very good to praiseworthy. It’s HBO, the modern Tiffany Network (which is what we called CBS before we learned how to make fire) doing another Big Little Lies. MY problem, and my problem alone, is with the execution. My concern, on the other hand, is with you, my friend. You will not go wrong to finish this series, and I really hope that you enjoy it. It will not be a waste of your life. I think Amy Adams is an under appreciated actress, and we all know that Patricia Clarkson is a very appreciated actress. Watching their scenes, whether apart or together, is a joy, albeit that Pat is in the role of a monster and Amy in the role of a victim. See it out. I truly hope that you like it. But do not hit Pause or Exit or Delete until you
see the final HBO logo and trademark multitonal “Hummmmm.”

Well, you said yourself you didn't find it satisfying in the end. And you even watch shows like Sweetbitter. ;)
