Brilliant!!!

Old school British humour with a legendary cast. Jokes and mannerisms were hilarious, some will not "get" the jokes as it might not fall into their usual American imported soaps. Already set the box to record the series.

I second that! The series just aired on PBS last night and I could not stop laughing. It's a bit of a disconnect, mentally, since Jacobi is also appearing (on PBS again) in "Last Tango in Halifax", as a totally different type of character--much gentler and quieter.

Iwan Rheon was brilliant as Ash (all those dreadful but hysterical puns on his name!) and really helped to set apart the two aging men, vying for attention, with his quiet bemusement.

Ian McKellan was stellar as the fading star, Freddie: "...all of my fan letters!", he brags. Then Stuart cuts him down with, "You had ONE fan."
Freddie, not to be outdone, counters, "And he wrote a lot of letters!"

My favorite part was Stuart's idea of hors d'oeuvres: a sandwich sliced into 16 pieces and pierced with toothpicks. lol! His comeback to the guest who complains was hilarious, "How about some of what YOU brought? I could always give you a slice of Nuthin'!

Can't wait to see the next ep.!

Nothing is what it seems. Everything is a test.

OMG this show is funny. I'm over the moon watching two o the greatest actors in history crack me up! For the love of all that's holy please don't let the idiots here in the US try to remake this with an American cast!

Erm, the show is written by an American, Gary Janetti. He is also one of the creators and an executive producers of the show.

This is a great program, really funny and the cast are all great. I also like the way you (very very) rarely see that Freddie and Stuart actually do love each other and do care about their friends, even though their concern and compassion are buried under miles of bitchiness, sniping, and self-obsession.

It's also good that there's a comedy series where you laugh at gays but not because they are gay, but because they are just like everyone else (Stuart and Freddie are basically a married couple, no different from a 'normal' married man and wife (aside from not having children) in the way they live their lives), which is real progress from the 'gays are funny because they are gay' mentality of comedies from decades back.
