poor casting. they should have been in their 20s. Fassbender was a WW1 vet and would have been no more than 25.

He was too old for Vikander just for starters.
I was also distracted by Rachel Weisz being very clearly in her 40s when the child was about five - but when I think about it, perhaps that helps pile on the tragedy that maybe this is a woman for whom it's too late to have another.
