Would the First Order have tolerated homosexuality?

Given how diverse their organisation was, something tells me that they would have. It's funny how there are some obvious comparisons to the Nazi regime within these Star Wars movies, particularly the General Hux speech in the first movie, before they destroy a few of the Resistance planets. Yet unlike the Nazi party you have a very diverse group of people in many positions of power.

You almost wonder how they are even evil at all with such lack of prejudice over who they employ and take under their wings.

reply

Mmmm, of course.... being accepting of "diversity" in no way means that you are a good person.

It doesn't but it certainly helps paint an image of someone being more accepting of different people and cultures and therefore more likely to be good. Already we can say that the First Order aren't guilty of racism or misogyny. It makes it harder to buy that they are an evil organisation. They may as well just be evil for the sake of being evil.

There is NOTHING about not being racist or sexist that doesn't mean you don't want to blow up planets or put people into camps.

The possible reasons just don't include a few that are... weirdly important to you.

Alderran was blown up for non-racist and non-sexist reasons. That does not make it any less of a massive war crime than if the people there were... blown up for being.... blue.

You’re forgetting these people are basically governed by an uber-powerful dark-side mind control, which is how Palpatine gained power in the first place. I mean, look at the Emperor in this film. He *created* Snoke, and Darth Vader’s grandson just takes orders from this disfigured monstrosity… some genetic experiment. To say nothing about pretty-boy, Hux. It’s freaking insane.

You can’t interpret the series as you would with the prejudices of our own society. For all we know there are NO homos because Paps mindchecks their perversions and directs them to focus on conquest.

The rebels are free because they are all force-sensitive themselves, even Han Solo.
