Exactly, as bad as the prequels got they at least felt like Star Wars and represented one man's true vision. The prequels told a coherent story and understood their characters. The Disney films I feel they are just making up as they go and are nothing more than a montage of fan service, nostalgia and political correctness with a dosage of Middle School level humor.

What is really sad is that I want to like these films but I just can't. Way too many plot holes, character flaws, lazy writing and things that just don't add up. All it is going to take is one Disney film to even be at the level of Phantom Menace and I will decide that the other 3 are canon but I honestly don't see it happening.

How much more do you expect it to fall? I remember it started out at 94%. I am fairly certain the score on Rottentomatoes and metacritic will not move much now. It is pretty set in stone. It has good scores on both Metacritic and Rottentomatoes. You make it sound as if this went from a 100% to a 20%.

The film is divided. Critics love it and the general audience does not. The film will not be a financial failure or a critical one. It will simply fail in the general audience's eyes. All around though the film is not a failure.

The majority of critics love it. A critic's job at stake for disliking a movie? Interesting little conspiracy theory. There are plenty of big people who will write bad things about it that will still be invited to the next pre-screening that is a baseless claim.
How is the film failing financially? It has made over 800 million worldwide. Is it doing as well as the force awakens no but just because of that does not make it a financial failure.

That may be what Disney is doing but it is certainly not what Abrams and Johnson did. I suspect the original Solo directors and even Ron Howard are not directing commercials and your cynicism does a disservice to all filmmakers and even yourself.

First I think you have separate TFA from TLJ and not not lump them as "Disney films". TFA is certainly guilty of fan service and I expect Abrams will now go overboard on that with the backlash to TLJ when he does chapter nine.
I can see the humor not working on fans who take themselves and the "universe" of Star Wars too seriously. I think that is why LOTR fans had such a good time trolling Star Wars fans until the Hobbit movies came out. I certainly would not have missed a few of the jokes if Johnson had been more restrained.
