The fundamental reason why there is a backlash against new Star Wars.

The main problem maybe is that Disney as materialists reject the "magic-working" of Star Wars. For them it has to be reducable to politics and the "real world" for it to count as a movie. Hence the nature of the new trilogy and associated generation of films. Some fans find that the "magic" is missing from the new films.

Putting the obvious intent of the original sources of this video aside, consider the ideas it raises about Star Wars and its meaning:

This is what George Lucas has said when asked about the meaning and purpose of Star Wars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DByPy8aEPw

Horseshit. It was Lucas who RUINED the prequels with all the boring political / explanatory midichlorian bullshit.

reply

Yeah, Force Awakens in particular gets to the heart of the Star Wars experience better than any of the prequels did.

I find TFA to be offensive and it actually makes me ANGRY, cos it played it too safe and was far too much of a rehash. Heck, the only Disney Star Wars I've loved so far has been Rogue One!

As for Last Jedi, I stand by Mark Hamill in his saying it was not true to Luke's character, and frankly, it may be the last Star Wars movie I ever see.

Disney execs assumed their audience are soulless idiots like themselves.

reply

Yeah, indeed.
