Ive seen my share of savage brutallity on film....

** SPOILER ALERT ****

But oh man....that scalping and cutting in half scene...was over the top. Im not sure if Ive become softer with time, but it was as brutal as it can get. Pretty shocking scene, interesting movie to say the least. The slow, worrysome pace, everything.

I've become unshockable as I get older. The reason is I know that behind the gore and the camera trickery there are prosthetic's and fake blood.

Only the other day I watched the simply dreadful Green Inferno, there is one stand out scene that was supposed to make me wince, I'm afraid it didn't.

It's all a deep end.

The impressive thing about this scene was how well it was done. The scalping, then the turning him upside down. At no point does it look like they're holding a dummy or prosthetic. Also, severing the guy like a pig, splitting him from his crotch downward and having to use several hacks with the bone tomahawk..it was feckin' intense! I admit I winced and crossed my legs as he was split...

It was well done but I guess I'd heard such hype about it that I was a little underwhelmed when I saw it. I watch a LOT of gore movies though so I suppose that's a factor.

I'm confused why they scalped him. I didn't see scalps anywhere else, yet they'd already killed one or two others from town, right? Cannibalism-wise, I doubt a scalp is a delectable. I know it's sometimes what 'Indians do' - but these were not typical 'Indians'

So yeah, why'd they scalp him?
