So sad for you Americans who can't see the original Scandivian series...

As an American who's currently watching the BBC broadcast of Series 2 of the original Scandinavian series "The Bridge"...hands-down one of the brilliant mysteries ever broadcast on TV...I just shake my head at the stupidity of American broadcasters who insist on "Americanizing" (and ruining) the best work from elsewhere in the world. You can have your "Breaking Bad" and "Mad Men"; I will take "The Bridge" and "The Killing." Sad that Americans have to settle for so much that is second-rate these days.

I have spent enough time over the years watching the garbage the UK puts out that I know I am better off overall with what American produces.

The fact that the only things worth watching on BBC, other than rebroadcasts of American shows and UK's Top Gear (which may be the best TV show of it's type ever created), are shows from "Scandinavia" is pretty sad.

You all's TV is S-H-I-T-E.

No you're the big stupid. But seriously at least one of the producers of the original series also have producer credits on this show. They make tons of money bringing it here and airing on channels with major ad revenue. Ricky Gervais has said the best thing about The Office in America is it made him about ten times the money.

And I love this show. Would like to see the original as well but I don't think I would have to hate one to love the other. I wonder if the new Mexican Breaking Bad is any good. Walter Blanco. Ha!

We are a 'captive' population who are force fed so much that is sub-par...

Yeah I do agree. In the first episode of US version Sonya gets to examine a dead body. While doing so her long blonde hair hangs down and touches the body and blood! That's totally unprofessional! She obviously never heard about corpse poisening and DNA contamination.

I'm Australian...the Danish/Swedish 'the Killing" and "the Bridge" are both screened here on foreign channels, and the US 'the Killing" if not the US 'the Bridge"

I was glad to see there was a US 'the Bridge' , regardless of it's merits, I don't want to watch episodes and seasons of shows in a frosty bleak backdrop of Scandinavia...El Paso/Juarez as a canvas, is easier for me to digest.

Since we are on the general subject, I would recommend watching 'Hatufim' the Israeli original which spawned 'Homeland", though, but that's me, I watch other Israeli shows..or try to. lol.

We can see it, and I did, and it's remarkable. The female detective, Saga is brilliant.
