Do You Think They get Together in the End?

I just wanted to know what people's thoughts were about Albert and Eva possible relationship at the end (of after) the movie?

reply

I think so. It could go either way but they liked each other.

reply

Too much hurt. She will remind him of his X too much. The interaction on the porch was more like closure... they just didn't realize that right away.

reply

Yes, I think the last scene was designed to convey that. As for only meaning to provide only closure, the director/writer could have ended the movie differently if that is all he meant to convey.

reply

The director is female.

reply

Oops. Thanks.

reply

I think they try again as evidenced by their body language.

reply

I think they make it. Get married and have their daughters at the wedding. I hope the blond girl gets to be there too. I hope the ex=wife comes along. It would make a weird wedding in the future.

reply

No, I don't. I think he's reached a point where he doesn't despise her for what she did, but he won't be dating her again. Sad. The trust is gone.

reply

Absolutely; yes.

There were several clues (for those that could not interpret their body language):

They were both clearly desperately unhappy when they split.

They both admitted to driving past each other's houses indicating that they were both still seriously smitten.

The final clue, just to ram it home, was when Albert said that he hadn't bought bedside tables and Eva just laughed happily, indicating that she had got over the hangups unintentionally engendered by the ex wife.

reply

Exactly. When he said he'd been driving by her house too, that meant he'd forgiven her. There was nothing to indicate that the relationship was ending.

reply

I agree, absolutely yes. He purposely did the joke about the tables because he remembered how she laughed at the weaving joke and he knew and wanted her to laugh again. It was a sign they were starting over, back to the beginning. He would not be driving by her house if he wasn't still interested. He also invited her to come and sit with him and there would be no other reason for him to do that. Body language was loose and relaxed.

reply

This ^^^. I thought it was pretty straightforward.

reply

I think they would just end up being friends in the end. I don't think Albert would be able to trust her 100% after that incident, but they both seem like they could still sit down and have a fun intelligent conversation. All the lovey-dovey kissing and sex is probably over though.
