SPOILER: Just want to confirm...
I must be getting old and slow... I enjoyed the film and agree with the rating on IMDB and many of the comments in this form, positive and negative... the plot had a lot going for it (especially Pearce and his partner Pattinson - who my wife actually looked up to see if he was REALLY retarded, love that)... it also had a lot of holes...
...anyway, my question. At the end, it WAS a dog in the trunk, right? After all that trouble, it wasn't just about the car, it was about the dog in the trunk?
If you view the Pearce character from a rational perspective, you will never understand his motivations. BUT, view him from a psychopathic perspective and he makes perfect sense. From the first encounter with the gun toting gang (he walks right up to throttle the old guy without fear of the Henry-character's shotgun) to the fierce devotion to a dog and never mind how many people get killed to resolve his conflict, he makes sense.
