In Prometheus the engineer planet is at the end of the galaxy

Here it is a flyover planet on the way to whatever planet they were going to.- No reply to Shaw's message from Prometheus? No knowledge that there is a massive civilization going on within earth's grasp? Is it me or is this film series the equivalent of Geraldo's Capone safe? For how long will Scott be allowed to continue this?
