My wife and I were talking about this last night. She hates the bump cuts with the coffee being poured etc. I like them. I think they add to the ambiance of the set up.
I also really like the fake phone call at the beginning. Again, it adds to that idea that this is just "happening" and we get to be there.
I can see how some might dislike the approach but I think it sets a nice mood for the show I agree with you on the ambiance. I think Jerry has done a great job with this series, it's by far the best web series I know about and I've seen a few.
I really enjoy the format and hope they keep this going although I realize we've already been given a lot of episodes. Jerry is the perfect host for this, I don't think this format could be copied by others, except maybe Larry David.
Even though some stuff is scripted/set-up to move things along I like how a lot of the conversation feels very natural and real, it's neat to get that kind of insight into the comedians and Jerry too.
I like the coffee-making montages and the pretend phone call. One thing I wonder about, though, is the way Jerry frequently loses it over something the guest says that doesn't seem particularly funny. Is he really that easily and intensely amused?
