Have there in real life been actual examinations and experimentations of the relics of Jesus and what his blood type/DNA is?

Unfortunately they used up the last pint they had stored in 1952. DNA wasn't discovered til 1953.

What did they use his blood for in 1952?

They held it up to the light and made an educated guess as to the blood type etc.
