Kind of mean spirited film imo

Spoilers warning*****

I mean at the end when Michelle said 'my friends call me mj' ??? Wtf they said Zendaya was not playing mj, it was so mean spirited. Almost as a spit int he face of people who thought she was mj.

I mean ANYTHING goes in these films. People are already pointing out continuity issues '8 years later' battle of NY was 2010 or 2012....changing characters appearances/actions 'spm's bff is not like that/will he become the villain he does in the comics?/flash is not as mean, etc....

But when she said that it really drove it home. So she is she or is she not??? I mean I don't really consider this film to be spm. Mostly just a juvenile comedy with superheros thrown in. But yeah hate the characters in this. Aunt May gets free stuff for looking how she does, and act oblivious suuure girl. They bring up slavery, WOAH a bit heavy for a kids movie ya think!? Michelle says she does not want to promote something built by slaves. WELL USA was BUILT on it, so what, she will not enter ANY old building ever!? She will not walk on roads built over 100 years ago? Seems extreme and bitter, but ok....

Also spidey and his BFF trying to be popular. Spm never was that much of an a-hole. Movie just really left a bad taste in my mouth. I was mostly siding with the villain tbh. And saw Spm as a meddling dumb kid. SAD they made spider-man go from a smart, shy, hero, into an idiot, immature, and messed things up worse (boat in half, weapons disaster, blow up a store, etc...)

Then random af at the end Iron man is like 'i know i said you were a fool, but i was wrong you are da best' HUH? I'd say tony's been hitting the bottle again, but he is back with pepper so...i just chalk it up to him being an irresponsible adult. Would LOVE if in the next film Cap instructs Spm haha. Finally a responsible adult in his life! No more adults trying to be his 'friend'.

Hopefully Tony doesn't try to ply Peter with alcohol or bring him hot milk and cookies in bed in a Michael Jackson move in the next movie. Haha.

OMG haha yeah in Civil War I was so glad I was not the only one to question why May just let a grown man she just met to be alone with her nephew, door closed!

They made IM come off as such a creep in this movie "What are you wearing, something skimpy I hope" wow...

I interpreted the "I don't want to go in there because it was built by slaves" as a modern commentary of how people are these days. They will find anything to complain about. They are removing statues and the confederate flag. So for this outcast girl it seemed like just the thing she'd say.

But with slavery being such a touchy subject, and that being a pretty nationalistic monument, I think that joke should have ended up on the cutting room floor.

I also heard a critic say that he was disgusted with the 'watching porn' joke because it is introducing kids to the idea of porn in a very casual way. He pointed out, would you make a joke about taking heroin in a kids movie?

So a lot of the things that were hilarious to the writers should have been reconsidered.

Yeah I found that this movie was being anything but a spider man movie. Rom com/comedy/coming of age/statement movie, etc....found it in a bit of bad taste some of the jokes, just like the Tony part where he said, in front of Peter that he hopes his aunt is wearing something skimpy, very inappropriate I agree.

The 'saving the day' certainly played second fiddle to his teenage journey. He ends up saving a cargo plane full of inventions. That's it?

Introducing teens to porn? Are you for real? Porn is all over the internet and it isn't hard for teens to find. (Spoiler alert: they do) In my day we had to find old porn mags in the woods, and you can be sure that we DID find them.

reply

The internet is for porn.

(And in the 1970s, porn movies "X" shockingly WERE advertised in home newspapers! Like "The Erotic Adventures of Pinnochio" . It's not his nose that grows.)
