Its not necessarily racism to want her to be white.
Some people just want details like that to be matched with the original (while others don't care as much).
Like if she was a white woman with dark hair, people would be bitching about her not being blonde.
I think most people have some threshold to changes in classical characters. For example I'm sure most would not be happy if she was suddenly a man.
