will be 7 years since Endgame

is it interesting that...in Star Wars times, 3 years between movies seemed to be the standard for planned movies

now, there seems to be 1 or 2 years between planned movies (then they bomb because people don't like too many movies), and this will be 7 years after Endgame (which might mean people will like it more than if it had come out 2 years after Endgame)

if you don't saturate the market, people like them more? (sort of like Cadburys chocolate, who now produce mediocre chocolate, and a lot of types of it)

Like I said in another Avengers: SECRET WAR Thread, unless you're a Subscriber to Disney+ and keep up on Wanda Vision or SHE-HULK, which has since been cancelled, then you're not going to know what's going on or care about these characters like the original movies..

reply

For starters, there are something like 150 million subscribers to Disney+, most of whom are families, so well over 300 million people are watching those shows, plus the countless number of people who watch them illegally in some way. You also have people who subscribe, watch, then cancel. When all is said and done, it's likely that at least half a billion people have watched the Disney+ MCU shows.

On top of that, you don't need to have watched the shows to follow along, at least so far. The films are self-contained. I assume even the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel, which features a character from a Disney+ show, will make perfect sense to viewers who never watched he show.

The New Avengers characters will not be as appealing as what we've been accustomed to

reply

How so?

reply

Because they'll make absolute certain to make it Woke and you know it.. No one cares about SHE-HULK, no one cares about CAPTAIN MARVEL nor a Black Captain America..

I read somewhere that part of the hero winning thing, is that in the movie, the hero has to be seen to be at their wits end or almost losing

part of the female hero thing seems to be that they have to always appear to be strong and in control...which sort of negates the "hero could lose" situation

reply

That wasn't the case at all in the first Captain Marvel film, or in the Black Widow film. Why do you suppose it will suddenly become the case in the sequel?

reply

haven't seen any of them, it was just a theory I read somewhere (that the hero generally needs to be on the back foot). in the first Avengers film Scarlett Johansson seemed to be busy trying to be "strong" all the time

reply

YES THEY DO...PLENTY OF PEOPLE CARE ABOUT THOSE CHARACTERS...PLUS THOSE ARE ONLY A HANDFUL OF THE CHARACTERS.

Yours is an interesting opinion, and very different from mine. I don't think there are that many racists out there, and feel that's a vastly overblown scenario used to justify all sorts of nonsense. I don't honestly think too many people care about skin color, despite the media telling me everyday that white supremacists are the number one threat to my country's existence. I figure we elected Obama president twice, so there can't be *that* many racists out there. You seem to think otherwise, and believe there's a klansman around every corner. Who knows?

Most phenomenon have a short life cycle. Something is really hot for awhile, then it fades. The MCU is likely no different. It caught on, and suddenly all these people who had no interest in superhero films were clamoring to see the next MCU film. I doubt they'll ever catch that kind of lightning in a bottle again, but I also think as long as they make quality films, they'll have an audience.

If The Marvels is a great movie, it will appeal to people. If the new Captain America film is a great movie, it will appeal to people. I *don't* think it will ever appeal to you, because you seem to have your mind made up, and you'll let your perception of Disney's politics color your perception of their films. Me? I don't care. I don't like Disney's politics at all, but I love seeing good movies, and I don't care who makes them. I can disagree with the artist but love the art.
