So are Carrey and Daniels going to fade into obscurity....

I would say yes to Jeff Daniels, who hasn't done anything memorable outside of this and the News Room (which was cancelled before it even reached 30 episodes)

As for Jim Carrey, he oughta retire as he has not had a hugely successful movie in over a decade.

And yes while this film was profitable, (primarily because the budget was kept pretty low, around $40 million) it was not well liked by audiences, and hence I doubt it will bolster anyone's careers by being in it.

Dude, the movie grossed worldwide over 169 Million Dollars, so that the movie wasn't liked by the people is just your opinion and not a fact, now go troll elsewhere.

reply

He isn't trolling when saying that Carrey and Daniels' have more or less reached their limit, even the producers behind this turd called a "movie" haven't done a good film in years.

Carrey had his chance to rise and shine in Kickass 2 but he was nothing more than a quick cameo.. damn. I really liked him in K2.

They won't fade into obscurity. As awful as this film was, the two have done enough memorable films and/or shows that they'll ensure they'll be remembered... for a while at least.

Jeff Daniels been in few serious movies so he is doing ok if he just sticks with serious rolls for awhile.

Jim carrey my favourite actor has had a few stinkers recently but hopefully 2016 will be good to him

reply

Daniels is doing fine as he can just become a character actor. He was in The Martian and that was an out of this world hit.

It's that man again!!

reply

Daniels wasn't known for lots of comedy before this, and he's not the Hollywood type, doesn't live there and only takes or pursues the roles he want (and usually gets)

Carrey on the other hand was a comedian, and unique for a time, but got stale, and while he could handle Drama (The Majestic) HE doesn't pursue it

reply

I think Carrey was definitely pursuing drama and that is the reason the comedy roles got stale. Murray did the same thing along with tons of other comedians, they want to prove they are serious actors and distance themselves from comedy roles in the prime of their career.

reply

Robin Williams successfully pursued drama, and kept his comedy by continuing to do comedy clubs, Not Movies, to keep his comedy --- Not Stale

I don't see that with Carrey

I found Carrey fun in this sequel, but absolutely terrible in Sonic 2. I hate to say it, but he needs to rediscover his zany side or just give into age and change tracks. Embrace his age and take on darker, more serious and laid back roles.

Someone recently asked who might make a good starring role in a Taxi Driver remake and I said Carrey could give it a go.
