I think this film may explain why our society is so fat phobic

I believe because it's now normal to sexualized the body type a child would have, that this is why fat people, particularly women are shunned. They are told having the bodies of women is unhealthy, and that they must work towards having the "healthy" body of an adolescent. There are thousands of women with starvation eating disorders. This is because society believes that a child's body is sexier than the body of a mature woman.

I think people need to see this, and realize how the normalization of the idea that a woman should fit into the same jean size as an 8 year old girl to be desirable are connected. Women are being told to starve themselves thin, because it's more appealing to men to view the child-woman presented by the industry. I hear thin women complaining about being teased for having the body of a fourteen year old, while they fail to realize as most of society has, that adult women by nature aren't meant to be stick thin.

Perhaps it is true in certain cultures, like Asia that women would be thin, but the problem is in the states we have confused the ideal of women having children's bodies, with health. An adult woman shouldn't be told in order to be healthy they need to lose weight, since weight overall doesn't impact health. Yet the diet industry and insurance companies which developed the B.M.I, has convinced them that the natural state for an adult woman should be the natural state of a teenage child. It is an affront to health, that women are told to maintain prepubescent appearing bodies.

There are a lot of people monetarily invested in the notion that being thin has a thing to do with overall health. We have teenagers with Anorexia, because they keep being told they shouldn't get fat, as in they should stay child like forever. I don't think it's when will pedophilia be normalized, it's pedophilia has been normalized.

I heard a Bengals cheerleader might get a reality show after sleeping with a teenage boy. It's more accepted by our culture for women to be pedophiles than men. That is what the whole cougar movement is about, making it acceptable for older women to gush about Justin Beiber and One Direction. Then there's the whole extended breastfeeding movement. It is well known that mothers can receive some form of sexual arousal from breastfeeding, and isn't it a coincidence the Time cover mom has two sons she's extended breastfeeding.

So while we're freaking out if a man looks at a girl the wrong way, women are openly acting as pedophiles, and few people have the strength to stand up to them, because society says you cannot tell a mother she's ever done wrong. For the record I am a female saying this. The extended breastfeeding nonsense has given me the heebie jeebies since I heard about it. Not long ago a female celebrity was married to a boy who was young enough to be her son. It's not the men we need to look out for, it's the women getting away with pedophilia.

I am disgusted by fellow females who think any of this is okay. It is n longer a matter of parenting style, when the child in question can stand and eat solid food. I also highly doubt the children are going into 3 years of age and wanting to breastfeed. I bet you'd find the mothers convinced them breastfeeding corresponded to love, exactly the same way male pedophiles groom their victims by claiming sexually pleasuring them is a form of love. I just hope things will change, I hope this documentary does get people talking about this. A mother is glorified on the cover of Times magazine for grooming her sons into prolonged breastfeeding. Where's the cops? Why isn't she on the registry?

There's a big gray area between black and white that you fail to see. Just because too skinny is unhealthy doesn't mean that remaining fat is healthy.

You also fail to understand that the main difference between an average grown up woman and a prepubscent girl is not fat per se but fat distribution and skeletal structure. Gaining or losing weight won't make a lot of difference.

The documentary never said anything about most people preferring a "child's body", it clearly states that what most males are capable of being attracted to is girls in their, mid/late teens, age at which most females have already become sexually mature.

I'm afraid that your whole tantrum regarding weight has been thrown in vain.

Fat people are unhealthy. All people are biologically wired to prefer healthy people. If someone prefers overweight to healthy bodies, it's some sort of fetish, not the norm.

There is tons ... maybe thousands of years of evolution to parse and analyze here on this
subject. I think if you look at the way woman are treated in the majority of the world today,
and then you go back in history it is clear that men have managed women to their benefit,
calling it society, and normalizing it.

Perhaps it is normal, we are not at the point scientifically where we can really say, and even
if we had the data ... could be objectively look at it and act on it? I doubt that.

I hear some of the comments you are making and they throw me for a loop. I am sure you
are sincere, but it's hard to find a solid foundation to discuss this stuff on.

I think the only solution is to recognize that much of our society is based on a kind of addiction
to power and control, as well as an intellectual fascination with training other people, like we
have trained nature, animals and plants. Is it right because it is natural and we happened to
evolve this way, or is it wrong because it does not allow people conscious undersatnding and
choices, and how do we answer those questions, and more to the point, even if something is
right, we know from, for example, that slavery is wrong and we as a world maintained it for
centuries even some places today.

But why wouldn't sexual pleasuring be a form of love, assuming it was done voluntarily and
not under duress or by intimidation. Our business affairs are not restricted thuswise? I'm
thinking they should be.

This is the basic logjam of individual freedom, the fact that powerful people, men mostly,
want to construct society so that they can make use of people in ways they want to and
to not feel guilty and be able to call it normal ... and put it under the rug.

The clinical reality is that many children who were sexually abused decide, at whatever level, to become obese adults and make themselves physically undesirable.
