Why is this in the top 250?

Really, it shouldn't be. But I guess the top 250 is already messed up enough.

At the end of the year it probably won't be, so I hope you're happy.

I could ask "Why is this in the top 250" about at least half the movies on the list, but that would be a huge waste of time.

reply

Because moves form the past ten years get rated more often than classics like "The Graduate", "Casablanca", "North By Northwest", etc. Today's youth are only hip to the here and now and seldom reach back to see where we came from.

There will always be films you don't like in the top 250, so you may as well try to accept that. It's all about what films become popular with large numbers of voters, not necessarily which ones are better.

Yeah, this is IMDb, it doesn't really matter, dude, I stopped caring about the top 250 long time ago. I mean Pirates of the Caribbean is in the top 250, what did you expect?

reply

Yeah, the Top 250 is filled with films greatly up-voted by fans. Not to mention The Imitation Game's place. It's disheartening to not see Intolerance, Duck Soup, The Ten Commandments, and The Chimes at Midnight in the Top 250. The Top 250 has transformed into a list that is half quality-based and half popularity-based, but, alas, there is nothing I can do to combat the fanbases. That's why I made my own Top 250 list.

reply

I agree, this one is flat and boring movie. Worst 250 is the right place for it.

reply

Whoa, I agree that it's not Top 250 material (and I like this movie,) but worst 250? Not quite. Worst 250 is for movies like Plan 9 From Outer Space and Baby Geniuses.

reply

Because for many people it reminds them of their childhood and Star Wars. They will say "It was fun!" just like The Mummy, people praised it because it reminded them of Indiana Jones/Star Wars formula. Fun!!! yay!!!

6/10 for me.

reply

A lot of people enjoyed it.
