The chopper. (major spoiler)

WHO blew up the chopper? And why?

reply

I came here looking for the same answer. Dima seemed to know something was going to happen, which is why he told the professor not to come.

reply

My assumption is that Aubrey Longrigg the British government guy that's involved with the prince had something to do with it.

I think he somehow knew that it was a double-cross - perhaps the chopper was a Russian chopper, maybe from that, he knew he had been caught. If that was the case though, it is pretty *beep* of him not to warn the British officer who also died in the explosion.

I think the simplest explanation is always the best, I would say that the Russians sniffed out the plan from when Damien Lewis went bragging to Jeremy Northam's character.

reply

Maybe Aubrey Longrigg was responsible but i thing that they found them again because of Dima's daughter who told her boyfriend where they are hiding.

reply

I don't know but it was the most predictaable moment in a film which was one long series of predictable moments.

reply

It was probably Aubrey Longrigg since he was quite powerful in the British government.

My question is: Why did Dima get in the chopper if he knew it was going to get blown up and he had the option of riding with his family?

reply

The only logical answer in my vue is Dima himself who did it. That way, his family would be out of danger once he's dead. There is no reason anymore to go after them. He doesnt care about the british agent at all. Only the professor who promised to take care of his family. How did he do it? Only god knows ;-)

reply

I agree, which is why he gave the 1911 to Perry and asked him to give it to Hector, with the list of names and account numbers in it- kill himself and hope that the British government do the right thing and take care of the family- and also fulfill his part of the agreement.

Remember: Honor meant a lot to him, so he HAD to honor his side of the agreement.

And as to how he did it- there were a lot of arms inside the door of the Safe House- It wouldn't surprise me if there were a grenade or two.

Interesting theory. Makes sense.

reply

That's a decent theory that makes sense. And I like it better than the alternatives.
